The Razer Nabu Watch is a digital smartwatch with two discrete power systems that supports two different functions. The watch is available for the Malaysian market on the RazerStore now and comes in two different designs: Razer Nabu Watch at RM 749, and Razer Nabu Watch Forged Edition at RM 999.
It appears that the Razer Nabu Watch takes its design cues from those classic Casio G-Shock watches, but that’s about as far as it goes. The standard edition of the Nabu Watch uses polycarbonate materials with Razer’s signature neon green colour for highlights, while the Forged Edition has a black finish and buttons machined from stainless steel.
Though the Nabu Watch comes with a lot more feature than most, its main function as a digital chronograph is its primary focus. Features such as illuminated backlit display, countdown timers, stopwatch, world time, and alarm functions make it a worthwhile timepiece. To top off the features, the watch also comes with fast Bluetooth pairing, private message screen, and automatic synching to the paired phone’s clock. But probably, the killer feature of the Nabu Watch is something that most other smartwatches lack; the device is water resistant up to ~50 metres and can withstand drops of up to 5 metres.

What’s unique about Razer’s approach with its activity tracker/smartwatch is the separation of the time keeping functionalities from the smart features. The smarts come with the watch’s secondary screen that streams notifications such as calls, texts, emails, app alerts, as well as activity tracking status; all of which can be easily toggled back and forth using the dedicated button at the front. Activity tracking is carried out by the built-in accelerometer which captures information such as steps walked, distance travelled, and even hours slept. These are then sent to the Nabu app (for iOS and Android) which then provides insights such as calories burnt, active minutes, and to even notify whenever activity goals have been reached. As an added bonus, Nabu Watch also comes with watch-to-watch communications capability. Users will be able to exchange Facebook and Twitter info between them, and the feature works with older Nabu and Nabu X devices too.

Having all of those features would only work against the watch if it doesn’t come with a decent battery life. This is where the two discrete screens/functions come into play. As shown in the specifications above, the chronograph part is powered by a replaceable coin cell battery that can last up to 12 months. The secondary screen on the other hand has a rechargeable battery that comes with up to 7 days of battery life. The charging is done via a proprietary magnetic connector.
