bumbung.co co-founders Claire Berneron and Gadiy Lim
bumbung, which claims to be Malaysia’s first “tech-based” real estate company, officially launched on May 17th, 2016. bumbung‘s website can be found at http://bumbung.co/ and its aim is to assist home seekers to make informed decisions, linking them up with established real estate agents. From here on out, we’re going to capitalize the first ‘B’ in bumbung like any self-respecting name would.
Bumbung, the local startup, was co-founded by Claire Berneron and Gadiy Lim and the site was shaped based on their personal experiences as well as observations during their respective processes of finding, renting, purchasing, and selling of properties. Their plan was to create a “long-term solution” for both home seekers and real estate agents, by inventing a cost- and time-efficient model that will benefit both parties.

Home seekers would simply visit http://bumbung.co/ and enter their requirements in the site, and they’ll then be connected to five relevant properties, or even agents, that best fit their requirements set earlier, all within 24 hours.
On the other side of the equation, Bumbung had to also attract real estate agents to list their properties on its platform, by way of creating value-added services for the convenience of these agents. They simply need to list their properties once, and will be notified by Bumbung once a match is made. Each listing also requires high-quality photos along with detailed information about the property, so that will benefit the users too.

One of Bumbung’s unique points is that agents will only be charged based on the number of confirmed viewings, which is said to ensure an equal and fair chance for every property that’s listed. Another key point is Bumbung’s rating system for real estate agents, not to mention the verified status, that ensures only the best agents are on the platform. Besides, Bumbung also ensures that professional photography services are used so that photos of the listings are much more presentable. Bumbung said that it prioritizes on privacy, safety, and trust when it comes to vetting agents and even home seekers, and a lot of care has been put into ensuring only licensed real estate agents are listed on its platform.

Gadiy Lim, co-founder of Bumbung, said, “Our proposition was to create a bridge between home seekers looking for their dream homes and match them to the hardest-working agents in the country who may have them. In that pursuit of bridging that gap, our KPI is to ensure each transaction and request is convenient, transparent, and innovative. Our long-term goal is to become more than just a platform for our users; as Malaysia’s first tech-based real estate agency, we see it as our duty to [ensure] that our users enjoy the process when looking for their dream homes. We are passionate about what we do, and we see property more than just dollars and cents; we want to ensure everyone gets a dream home, or rather a dream bumbung over their heads!”
Various real estate companies have showed their attention and support to Bumbung in the months leading up to its launch, and such companies include Chester, Homegates Realty, MegaHarta, Metro Homes, RE/MAX, and Reapfield. To get started, visit http://bumbung.co/.
