LG Electronics (M) has added two Ultra HD (4K) TV models to the company’s lineup here in Malaysia. The UB980T model has one 65” TV while the other UB850T comes in two sizes: 49” and 55”. LG also has plans to bring in one more model next month to provide a comprehensive offering to Malaysians. The 4K TVs are a follow up to LG’s first Curved OLED TV that was launched here back in May.
These Ultra HD TVs provide 8.3 million pixels per frame and excellent screen resolution through LG’s Tru-ULTRA HD Engine. This helps to upscale any video format to higher quality for playback on the LG TV. The IPS panels found on the TVs also allows for a wide viewing angle than conventional LED/LCD TVs.
The TVs also come with multi-channel, forward-facing speaker systems. The LG UB980T series in particular come with Harman/Kardon speakers for a better quality sound.
Other feature includes support for 3D using the 4K 3D+ technology and the UHD TVs also come with CINEMA 3D glasses. These glasses do not need batteries which makes them light as well as flicker-free.
“LG Electronics is set to be the leader in local UHD TV market by offering consumers a wide array of models in variety of sizes with cutting-edge technologies to deliver an ultimate home entertainment experience. LG UHD TVs provide the very best in terms of image quality and designed with webOS integration brings unprecedented user friendly experience to the consumers. LG UHD TVs line-up reiterates LG’s commitment to make it all possible for consumers to propel home entertainment to the next level,” said David Oh, Managing Director, LG Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd.
The LG UHD TVs run webOS which means that they are indeed smart TVs. The Launcher on the TV allows for easy navigation and browsing of both content and services. The interface is easy to use and connecting with other devices is a breeze. The webOS platform also organises content into categories and even provides recommendations based on popularity of the content.
The 65” UB980T is available in the market now and has a retail price of RM17,999 while the 84” version will be made available next month. On the lower side, both the 55” and 49” 4K TVs from the UB850T series are available for RM7,999 and RM5,799 respectively.
